The impact of cyclones on local economic growth: Evidence from local projections

چکیده
We shed new light on the short-term dynamic effects of cyclones local economic growth in India. proxy GDP with night-time intensity data and construct a cyclone index that varies across months districts depending wind speed exposures. Using projections highly granular for period 1993M1-2011M12, we find yearly estimations hide large differential impacts negative impact is largest between 4 8 after event.
